iPhone 3GSo Kate says to me (Robinator the tech guy from the show) "I want to get an iPhone, what do I do?". We started getting into the conversation and realized that it would be a great topic for our Wednesday night tech segment of the show. If you are thinking of jumping on the iPhone 3G bandwagon join us! We will answer questions like where do I get one?  How do I activate my new iPhone 3G?  What all can it do anyway? No Kate, they do not come in Pink! (just kidding, she really didn't ask that)...

The new iPhone is pretty great with it's really cool interface and how it works. The main things to think about when deciding to get one is that it is a phone AND an iPod so you get the best of both worlds in one handheld device. There were a few problems with 3G right off the bat and there were some complaints of customers having dropped calls but the infrastructure is smoothing out and things are getting better. The iPod part of this device not only means that you really really need to learn to use iTunes on your computer because iTunes is the way you will activate your iPhone, perform maintenance on it, update it's software, and than there's the syncing of all the music videos, TV shows, and movies! iTunes 8 has Genius technology and can make playlists for you based on similar music it finds in your library...how does THAT work...?? The jury is still out.
  • Decide which color to buy, your choices on the iPhone 3G are black and white, no really that's the colors black or white.
  • You are going to have to port your number over or get a new one.
  • Put iTunes 8 on your computer frpom Apple.com and use it to activate your iPhone on the network
  • Check out this link for more information direct from Apple! (be sure to download the PDF of the iReady checklist!
