22 year old Jared Loughner faces life in Prison or the Death Penalty. Why? He killed six people including Federal Judge John Roll tried to assassinate a U.S. Congresswoman and wounded a dozen other people. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is still in critical condition but doing better after being shot at point blank range in the head. She was his target by all accounts and there was evidence found at his parents home in Tucson, Arizona to help support that theory.
Despite some misguided attempts at trying to blame so called "Right Wing" Radio or TV talk hosts it is clear this guy was hell bent on harming Giffords who he met three years ago at a similar rally. Sheriff Clarence Dupnik blew it when he suggested that the tone of rhetoric that's occurred in this country over the past couple of years affects troubled personalities. If this were true I think both the left and the right would have "influenced" more sick, sad tragedies like this one. Jared Loughner has been described by authorities and former classmates as a loner with deep distrust of the government a guy who was booted off a community college campus because he was so out of control in a classroom. More on security concerns for other politicians, reaction from around the nation and D.C. tonight on America Tonight. |
