The Queen of Daytime TV gifts her magazine staff with an IPad and $10,000 each. Sweet! What has your boss given you lately? Most people are lucky if they have a Christmas Party anymore or even a turkey and a handshake at Thanksgiving. No matter what you think of O you have to hand it to her nobody gifts better than she does.
Speaking of money the Chairman of British Petroleum has agreed to create a $20 billion dollar oil spill fund and set up another fund for out of work oil workers. Plus those dividends for stockholders are off the table in light of the disaster. Carl Henric Svanberg only made one mistake by pulling a Leona Helmsley when he referred to the company as caring about the little people. Say what?? He needs to take a page from President Obama's playbook when in doubt travel with a telepromter and always double check the speech writer's work. Catch us tonight on ATN and throw in your two cents at 800-259-5791.

Estimate of disaster's scope goes up -- again

Thanks to pictures like the one you're looking at we have a new drill cop. Meet Michael Bromwich he's a lawyer who specializes in internal investigations and regulatory matters and he's the new eyes of Government when it comes to Off Shore oil drilling. The President appointed him to redo so to speak a very shaky Minerals Management Department. No more happy hours boys! Bromwich's last govenment gig was as a watchdog in the Justice Department for the Clinton administration. Is he up to the task? We have the skinny tonight. Besides mentioning Bromwich the President called out BP saying they were reckless and would pay the people who have lost money because of the spill and he promised that, "We're Not Going to Go Away." We look at the Big Promise to the Nation from the Oval Office and the latest on the Spill.
On a side note I got a Vuvuzela today and if you've been watching the World Cup you know what I'm talking about if not you'll find out tonight.

Odds, Ends and Drones PDF Print E-mail

How do you feel about unmanned drones buzzing around your neighborhood? So far the FAA is putting on the breaks on issuing rights for the these pilotless aircraft that come in all shapes and size to do things like nail people speeding or patrol the border. The biggest reason the FAA is holding firm is because of the fear of crashing into other planes and helicopters. How bout' an invasion of privacy on top of the fear of slamming into things. We've seen what's happened when targets were missed in Afghanistan. Sorry, keep the drones off the the border a different story.

On last night's show we talked about broken promises..lots out of the mouths of politicians. Let's see if President Obama can make good on a promise he made today that things will return to normal on the gulf in fact it'll be even better. We've heard that one before remember Bush promising things would be better in New Orleans after Katrina. Tonight on ATN we have to go to the dungeon who will be thrown into the cold, dark abyss? Tune in to find out.

President Addressing Oil Spill on Tuesday PDF Print E-mail

Sensors to calculate oil flow rate deployed
Finally the gloves are off in the nasty business of the oil spill reeking havoc with so many lives in the gulf coast. The President is spending two days in Louisiana, Alabama and Florida on a fact finding tour and then will address the nation Prime Time on Tuesday. This should have happened weeks ago but at least there is movement in the bullpen. Florida Governor Charlie Crist is right when he says that a Presidential viist makes the difference because more will get done realizing the Commander and Chief is watching. We still come back to missed opportunities, blunders and out right stupidity in dealing with the aftermath of the spill. I spoke to a woman yesterday whose 85 year old Father lives on property in the marshes of Louisiana and he is furious after putting up with years of pollution and being ignored he says it's time for action but it might be too late. Let's hope not America. Throw in your two cents tonight on the show. We'll also talk with terrorism expert Jeff Addicott about the New Jersey creeps and other homegrown terrorism threats. Don't worry we'll still manage to squeeze in some fun with the latest Lady Gaga exploits, cheap road trips and sports shorts.
