Turns out the oil pouring into the Gulf of Mexico might be gushing out more than 5,000 barrels of oil a day. America gasped collectively after seeing the video of the black plume rapidly pounding out of the leak. BP says they have no way to truly measure it so I guess they figured why not throw out a random number. Most experts think it could be five times more than orginally thought. Ridiculous!

Coming up on Sunday night's show a rehash of the Preakness maybe we'll have a trifecta winner this time around plus the spills, chills and latest from Washington. Throw in your two cents at (800) 259-5791.

Executives of BP America, Transocean and Halliburton get sworn in to testify at a Senate Energy hearing on the Gulf oil spill need we say more folks. Nobody wanted to take the blame but they were happy to pass the buck. It was all about a valve that should have shut off the well in case of an accident.

So whose fault is that it didn't work? Find out that answer and you've solved the billion dollar spill riddle. More tonight on ATN.

Oil Spill Heads West PDF Print E-mail

If you have reservations to one of the hot spots in Florida from Destin to Miami you might be okay. Florida Senator Bill Nelson isn't holding his breath and is one of many in Congress who want to make sure BP pays for lost dollars to anyone who loses their livelihood due to the catastrophe. As of right now the oil spill is headed west toward Texas and in the direction of some major shipping lanes. Goodbye shrimp, oysters and fish none will be edible.

The clock is ticking as engineers try to figure out how to get rid of the crystallized gas build up in the dome that was put over the leak. BP can't put the massive four story containment chamber into the mix unti the gas problem is solved. In the meantime who pays as the tar balls hit a beach area in Alabama. We'll talk about it on ATN.

Faisal Shahzad, the Connecticut man busted in the Times Square terror plot built his makeshift bomb inside a suburban garage after five months of explosives training in Pakistan.30 year old Faisal Shahzad probably never thought he'd be in a New York City courtroom facing Terrorism charges. After a failed attempt to kill maybe hundreds of people at Times Square on Saturday he was on a plane getting ready to taxi headed for Dubai before midnight on Monday. Thanks to some quick actions by the FBI with the help of his name appearing on the Federal "No Fly List" they were able to turn the plane around.

Shahzad who lived in Bridgeport Connecticut and worked in the financial field had neighbors and friends fooled. Once again how often do we hear the story that nobody had any clue they had a terrorist in their midst. Shahzad who became a naturalized citizen last year was hot footing it back to Islamabad. Luckily for us he wasn't skilled at what he was doing despite being trained in a Pakastani terror camp the plot was foiled thanks to a bad detonator. You have to ask yourself when does our luck run out let's hope we never find out in America again. We'll talk about it tonight on ATN.
