How About Bailing Out the Rest of Us? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kate Delaney
Sunday, 21 September 2008 20:14

Did you hear the collective sigh across America when the news hit that AIG was being bailed out by Uncle Sam to the tune of 85 billion dollars?  I can't tell you how many people complained to me this week about not getting a helping hand with their financial blues. Gordon Gecko's line about greed being good in the movie Wall Street couldn't be more accurate these days.  Bail Out Cash!It gets worse folks as congress is getting ready to vote this week on a plan to create a $700 billion dollar fund to buy toxic assets from banks.  At first blush at least you won't have to worry about the savings you've managed to whittle away while it sits in the bank earning meager interest.

Where are we getting all this money?  Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson says the passage of the legislation is essential to avoid a tailspin in the world financial markets.  Here's what he said on ABC's This Week.."I don't like the fact that we have to do this.  I hate the fact that we have to do this but it is better than the alternative." Give me a break! Paulson should be fired for being part of idiot parade.

So let me get this straight all the fat cats at Merrill Lynch, AIG, Lehman Brothers and the rest of million dollar boys club get big bucks to stick around.  If you screwed up royally on your job how long do you think you would last?  Those shown the door walk away with more money than most people can even imagine.

My mother told me when I was a kid that life isn't fair but this is ridiculous!

The Dow dropped more than 445 points can you blame this guy for being frustrated!  AIG gets some government love to the tune of $85 billion dollars..you have got to be kidding. Look for more people to jump back into Gold for fear that more banks will crash and the economy will continue to get worse. Today Gold prices exploded  posting the biggest one-day gain ever in dollar terms Gold for December delivery rose as much as $90.40, or 11.6 percent, to $870.90 an ounce in after-hours trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange after jumping $70 to settle at $850.50 in the regular session. That was the biggest one-day price jump ever; gold's previous single-day record was a $64 gain on Jan. 29, 1980. Is this the safe haven?

Finally we have Football all the way to February baby!  Already after the first week some major events like the loss of Tom Brady at the helm of the Patriots offense.  How bout the Cowboys and the Eagles with huge blow out wins they will meet each other on Monday night.  Wideout T.O. couldn't resist stiring the pot here's what he said in the lockeroom this week.."I will say that Donovan made me a better receiver in Philadelphia, but I think Donovan would have a hard time admitting I made him a better quarterback,".Ricky Williams  In Miami, Ricky Williams negotiated his own contract extension with Bill Parcells and the Dolphins including a verbal agreement regarding a performance bonus.  Agent Leigh Steinberg wasn't too thrilled when the former Ganga King didn't ask the Fish to wipe away his $8.6 million dollar debt to the team.  He just wants to play smoke free.

iPod and Zune Christmas 08 PDF Print E-mail

Robinator here! Thanks for listening to me on America Tonight with Kate! So here's the recap on the new Microsoft Zune and the Apple iPod Nano and Touch (all released Sept 08).. RobinatorIt is a banner week for Apple AND Microsoft. With the release of the new Apple IPOD and Microsoft Zune you can expect new things from your personal MP3 players. The Microsoft ZUNE has had some problems with WI-FI syncing but say they have worked it out now in the new version. In case you didn't know, the Microsoft Zune player is a competitor for the Apple Ipod. We have to give Microsoft a little credit for the re-design of the interface on the zune and now the player gets an update that allows users to download songs over WI-FI. Zune still has the FM radio built-in and one of the new features out will be to allow users to tag a song you hear on the radio and then buy it later either over the Wi-FI or when you plug it in to sync. The Zune has not supported audible books in the past but now they say it will do that as well.
