... and we have yes we had some winners at the U.S. Open including American Serena Williams who also became Number 1 in the world with her straight set victory over Jelena Jankovic.  Serena Williams

I was in the crowd that was loud and proud baby! Roger Federer who had a rough summer losing twice in the finals to Rafa Nadal both in the French and in that epic Wimbledon battle won his 5th U.S. Open. He also did it in straight sets knocking out Andy Murray who seemed whipped from the outset of the match. A big shout out to my buddies on the 7 train. I love you New York!

US Open Report! PDF Print E-mail

Sparks flew at the U.S. Open yesterday as American Andy Roddick went down in 4 sets at the hands of Novak Djokovic. 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. Roddick had several serves of up to 143 miles an hour but when it counted in trying to force a fifth set he doubled faulted twice.

Afterwards the continuing war of words bit the normally popular Novak Djokovic when the crowd of 20,000 booed him as he went after Andy Roddick. Roddick said he was joking around the day before when he said..."you never know with Djokovic who claims all kinds of injuries like SARS or the bird flu" Roddick was refering to Novak's propensity for calling the trainers on the court to look at ankle or elbow or some other aliment. Apparantly DJokovic didn't get the memo. He mentioned that the people must all think he's injured after winning the match to USA commentator Michael Barkan. The crowd turned ugly and you can bet they'll be cheering for Roger Federer in his next match in the U.S. Open Semi-finals.
