President Obama makes it clear who will be paying for his $447 billion dollar jobs plan. Will companies be inclined to want to hire more people after paying more taxes? Down and dirty here comes the rub for anyone who falls into any of the categories below:
- A limit on itemized deductions and certain
exemptions on individuals who earn over $200,000 and families who earn
over $250,000, which would raise roughly $400 billion over 10 years.
- A
proposal to treat carried interest earned by investment fund managers
as ordinary income rather than taxing it at capital gains rates, which
would raise $18 billion.
- Eliminating certain oil and gas industry tax breaks that would raise $40 billion.
- A change in corporate jet depreciation rules that would raise $3 billion.
Tonight on ATN we answer the question of who is going to pay. |

Days away from the 10th anniversary of 9/11 New York City deals with terror threats. It was inevitable wasn't it that we would hear about a lot of chatter over jihadi websites? How credible are the those threats to not just NYC but Washington, D.C.? It's believe that car bombs are the weapon of choice for possible Al Qaeda attacks and three suspects might already be in the United States. Tonight I'll share what I learned late on Thursday. Also, reaction to the President's jobs speech and our cheap movie review. |

Here comes Irene and from North Carolina to New Jersey people along the coastline are moving out of her way. In New York City the Mayor doesn't want to be caught with trapped seniors in low lying areas so he's ordered massive mandatory evacuations of senior citizen homes. The Governors of North Carolina and New Jersey both hammered home the point that this was no joke and people need to be prepared. Have you ever been in a Hurricane? Tonight we'll compare notes as I've weathered two big ones. |
