Army Ranger receives Medal of Honor for heroics

Meet Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Arthur Petry he became the second living recipient of the Medal of Honor from the Iraq and Afghan wars. He lost his right hand while tossing an enemy grenade away from his comrades in Afghanistan. Petry who was already wounded on a mission in Afghanistan by a bullet that went through both legs, picked up an enemy grenade that landed near him and two fellow Rangers he threw it back toward the attackers. That grenade detonated and blew off Petry's right hand. The army says if he didn't grab the grenade most likely two or more troops would have been killed or wounded. After getting the Medal of Honor Petry said he was humbled and felt as though all the men and women in uniform are heroes.
